Turning a website into a business

Okay so lets get up to date... you have  downloaded and read the How To Build A Website By 3:45 In The Afternoon and you have read it through and allowed Chris to show you how to build the website and all the other fiddly stuff that goes with it.

You should also have a pretty good idea now of how the mechanics of the process works.  Your affiliate product will be set up as will be your auto responder and your marketplace account.

Fantastic, you now have what I call the empty ship.  This ship is going to be the vessel that brings you money in the very near future but at the moment it is going nowhere fast because it does not have any fuel, let me explain.

You can have the most professional looking website on the internet and you could have the most sellable product in the world but it will never sell until you market it.  There are literally thousands of excellent products out there but most of them are not selling because the site owners are not marketing.... or they are not marketing correctly.

Most of us have at some time been the victim of Spam.  It is horrible and obtrusive and to be quite honest with you, that type of promoting does not work, all it does is clog up systems and annoy people.  So take it as fact that spammers are not effective or profitable marketers.

However, you do need to create traffic... because traffic is the fuel that powers your ship.... and the more fuel it has, the further it will go.... and the further it goes, the more profit it brings to you.

Now to create traffic you need to create an interest, remember most people do not go on the internet to buy stuff, they go on there to socialise, meet friends, get inspired and to research.  I remember in my days as a salesman, I was always told that people buy from people, and it is the same on the internet.  You cannot just build a site and paste loads of products on there and expect them to sell, it is just not going to happen.

So how do you create or generate traffic?

Most of you who have downloaded the How To Build A Website By 3:45 In The Afternoon. eBook will probably have taken a look at Chris's website.  This website holds a wealth of information and it is updated almost every day.  I can personally vouch for this website as I have been a member for almost 4 months now.  I do try to get on there every day to learn something new but unbelievably I STILL have not got through all the information.

I you go on there through the link above or even >>>HERE<<< you will see how it is laid out to be user friendly.  I'm sure Chris would not mind me telling you he used to be a radio presenter back in England so he is very well versed in audio and video production, practically all of his teaching is by video and he makes it look so easy.

I have to admit though that sometimes I did get "stuck" and did not understand the first time around.  That's the nice thing about the videos, you can just play them again, most of the videos are round about 10 minutes long.

The next thing that really adds value to Chris's website is that members of his site get FREE web hosting.  This is one of the great things for me as, so far, all of my websites are hosted there and all for FREE.  Chris's web hosting also comes with a free techie help service which is fantastic, I have had to use it a couple of times and it is powerful enough to sort out any problems easily but also small enough to be able to offer a personalised service, the guys there actually remember your name.

Chris also has a forum on his site which I also use quite regularly, I have only just started using that regularly because I am not really a forum person but I really wish I had started using it earlier.  The reason I say that is because everyone on the forum has been taught by Chris so you are all doing variations of the same theme, only at different stages.  You can guarantee that what whatever you are stuck on, someone else has already had that problem and has solved it.

So, we were talking about traffic, which is the life blood of your business, Chris has a whole section devoted to generating traffic.  Not only does he show you how to build your traffic, he also goes into all the pitfalls, and believe me there are many, that would cause you problems in many areas.  For example there are things you need to do with Face book otherwise you run the risk of having your Face book page closed down..... imagine if you had built up a few thousand followers on your page and suddenly it disappeared because you had contravened the Terms & Conditions.
